	South Reading Vixens Girls Football in South Reading
	FC Bracknell Under 10's Girls Tournament Great performance in difficult conditions 3rd May 2004 Yesterday's sunshine had been replaced by non-stop rain as we travelled to Bracknell for our first under 10's tournament. This didn't bother the girls though, and they couldn't wait to get started. Our first game saw us go behind in the first half before recovering to scrape a 1-1 draw. This was followed by two successive defeats, the second one at the hands of a strong Wey Valley side. With the wooden spoon beckoning we retreated to the Community Centre for some warmth and shelter. With only one point so far and two games remaining, we needed to start winning. The break seemed to do the trick, and the girls came out with renewed determination. The improvement was amazing, and their will to win was rewarded with their first victory of the day. They now knew that they could do it, and a further three points would see them comfortably into the knockout stage. Sandhurst also needed the points, and a very even match remained goalless until just before the end. With conditions worsening and pitch markings disappearing the breakthrough came when the unfortunate Sandhurst goalkeeper handled the ball outside her area. Georgia's free kick was blocked, but Emma was on hand to smash the rebound into the net. A very creditable third place in the league ensured our place in the semis. The final was in sight and trophies were on the horizon. With large areas of the pitch starting to disappear under water, both teams struggled to play. The girls gave 100 per cent but sadly for us it was Winnersh who came out on top. With the ball stuck in the mud we couldn't clear it quick enough and a Winnersh striker stole in to poke it into the net. Nevertheless, it was a fine performance and we could not have asked for anything more from the girls. Player of the tournament was Emily, for her battling performance and never say die attitude.
