Girls Football in South Reading

Rangers Revenge

South Reading Vixens U8's 1 - 2 Winnersh Rangers
23rd May 2004

Jord - battler

Winnersh started strongly, and it was no surprise when they opened the scoring midway through the first half. The Cubs played the ball across their own goal and this was punished by a Winnersh striker who made no mistake with her shot. The girls were back in it before half time though, when a run from Chelsea ended with her sliding the ball past the Winnersh keeper to send the teams in level at the break.

The second half was much the same, with Keana being the busier keeper throughout. The deciding goal came after the Winnersh goalie handled the ball outside her area - very unfortunate, as this was only marked by cones on the touchlines. The Cubs failed to take advantage of their good fortune and the ball dropped to a Winnersh player. She ran the length of the pitch, finishing with an excellent strike which gave Keana no chance. It was a goal worthy of winning any game, and it proved to do so in this one.

The Cubs player of the match was Jordina for her hard work throughout. Bravest player was Courtney H who defended solidly throughout despite suffering two separate injuries during the game.
