Girls Football in South Reading

A Trip to the Country

Benson Girls U8’s 0 – 3 South Reading Vixens U8’s
25th April 2004

Chelsea - tireless The rapidly improving Vixens travelled to South Oxfordshire on a lovely Spring morning, quite a change from the conditions that the girls have become used to playing in. The hosts had worked hard to prepare an excellent pitch, in the picturesque surroundings of Ewelme.

It was the first ever match for the home team, and their enthusiasm was evident from the kick off. However, the Vixens started brightly, with much of the play in the Benson half. Despite this the first period remained goalless, with the outstanding Benson keeper dealing with everything the South Reading girls could throw at her.

The breakthrough came a few minutes into the second half, when the tireless Chelsea finally found a way through. This spurred the Vixens on, and they went further ahead after a great run and goal-bound shot from Squeak was touched over the line by Maya. Courtney S started making some lightning fast runs from midfield, whilst Jordina kept everything tight in defence. The scoring was completed by captain Georgia, after more pressure from the visitors.

It was thoroughly enjoyable match to watch, and particularly pleasing to see how the Vixens are starting to keep their shape throughout the game.

The Vixens player of the match was Chelsea, for her determination and workrate in attack.
