Beaten by BartonBarton Rovers Girls U10’s 10 – 1 South Reading Vixens U10’s27th June 2004 It was always going to be a tough task for the girls against a bigger, stronger and more experienced Barton Rovers team. These girls had just completed a full season in the North East Hants Youth League (as Westwood Wanderers) and had run up some decent results over the year. The day got off to a bad start with the news that Jaye was unavailable, having just trodden on a nail. Things got worse as Barton raced into an early two goal lead, although there was a glimmer of hope for the Vixens as Georgia pulled one back. Thereafter we conceded goals throughout the match, despite good defensive work from Ashleigh, Jade and new girl Karis. The Vixens did manage to mount attacks of their own, but the nearest we came was a close range shot from Georgia which came back off the post. Overall, the superior passing and movement of the Barton girls won the game, and this is something we will be looking to achieve for ourselves over the coming season. Team: Laura, Lauren, Ashleigh, Jade, Karis, Emma, Georgia, Jessica, Felisha, Ellie Vixens player of the match was Jade, for her brave defending against much bigger opponents.
