South Reading Vixens

This was the very first match for our youngest Vixen team members and they did themselves credit with a fine display against the boys. With a good turnout of family and friends for both teams, there was no sign of nerves as the girls got straight down to business against the older boys. Emma put on a brave performance in goal, Kimberley and Courtney defended solidly and the midfield of Emmy and Keana worked hard to win the ball. Captain Maddy made some excellent runs, and up front Ashleigh looked dangerous when chances arose.

The boys opened the scoring, but the Vixens hit back with two goals from the on-loan Bradley to take the lead. South Reading played their way back into it though, and by the break had edged their way to a 4-2 lead. It was still all to play for, however the boys stepped up a gear in the second period and added three more without reply as the Vixens began to tire. Nevertheless, throughout the game there was great enthusiasm and hard work from all the players, and certainly a lot to build on for the future.

Player of the match went to Maddy for a great debut performance.
