Maidenhead Double Sinks Vixens

South Reading Vixens 0 - 2 Maidenhead
1st October 2005

Maya - midfield dynamo The day got off to a bad start when one of the parents cars wouldn’t start, requiring a quick dash over to Whitley to collect three players and the ref. Things got worse as the Vixens failed to display their usual will to win the ball, and consequently they were pinned in their own half for much of the first period. When they did break out, the ball was quickly returned by Maidenhead’s solid defence. However, at half time the score was still 0-0 and it was all to play for.

The Vixens stepped up their game in the second half, but soon found themselves a goal down when a Maidenhead player beat both defenders and hit the top right corner of the net. From that point the Vixens went back to bunching instead of holding their positions, which they’ve been working so hard in training on for the last month. Maidenhead took full advantage and scored their second goal of the game, and with heads down there was no way back for the South Reading girls.

We can do a lot better than this. Let’s get it going again next week, girls.
