South Reading Vixens

Girls Football in South Reading

South Reading Vixens 1 - 3 Maidenhead
5th November 2005

Karla - first goal of the season Once again the girls started well and within seconds were trying to hit the target, but Maidenhead’s defenders soon raised their game to deny them further opportunities. After five minutes the visitors scored the first goal of the match as they took advantage of a defensive mix-up to play the ball past Keana and into the net. The Vixens weren’t about to give up though and battled their hearts out to get even, but could not find a way through before half time.

South Reading had to make a few changes at the break to allow everyone a run out, and with all the alterations the formation soon broke down. Within minutes Maidenhead scored their second goal, with Keana also getting injured as she had her fingers trodden on. But the Vixens midfield worked hard to get back into it and battled on to get the ball into the danger area. Eventually Laura put in a great cross to Georgia, who took on the last defender before setting up Karla to pull one back. Everything was still to play for, but with more changes the Vixens lost their way and Maidenhead scored their third goal 30 seconds before the final whistle.
