South Reading Vixens

Girls Football in South Reading

Thatcham Town 4 - 0 South Reading Vixens
12th November 2005

Keana - great goalkeeping Within 30 seconds of the starting whistle the Vixens found themselves 1-0 down, and from that point on it was an uphill struggle for the girls. The team seemed nervous of Thatcham’s big defenders, and with confidence low they just could not get through on goal. At the other end Keisha played well in defence, but keeper Keana still found herself under constant attack. Eventually Thatcham doubled their lead from a corner rebound which Keana couldn’t stop second time around.

The coaches tried to shore up the defence for the second half as they switched to a 3-2-1 formation, with Maya dropping back to help the Vixens rearguard. In midfield there was a change of pace as sub Sydney joined the team to help Laura break free down the line a few times. But it took a mistake from Thatcham’s defence for the Vixens only chance of the game, as Laura’s strike was well taken by Thatcham’s keeper. Maya adapted well and played solidly in defence, but the final score was 4-0 to the hosts.

Keana earned the Vixens player of the match award for great goalkeeping skills and keeping Thatcham’s tally to a minimum.
