South Reading Vixens

Girls Football in South Reading

Vixens Denied by the Wood

Westwood Diamonds 4 - 1 South Reading Vixens
29th October 2005

Laura - excellent The match started well, with the girls holding their positions and the midfield passing to each other giving Laura H every opportunity to run the ball down the line. Laura put in perfect crosses every time, but unfortunately Georgia was being heavily marked by Westwood and she just couldn’t get on to the end of them. The girls then went 1-0 down when Westwood got lucky and scored their first goal, which was shortly followed by the half time whistle.

The second half began brightly as the Vixens went straight for goal, but Georgia’s strike hit the post. This opened the flood gates as the Vixens tried to get equal, with Karla’s effort bending a inch wide and Laura and Georgia taking in turns to strike the ball and hitting the post or cross bar each time. Westwood got in on the action and quickly scored two goals to run up a three goal lead, but still the Vixens carried on battling and it finally paid off when Laura took the ball from the half way line and fired home. She then tried to repeat this but again hit the post for the fourth time in the game, which ended with the score being 4-1 to Westwood.

Well done to Keana who played her best performance of the season, keep it up! Jordina also showed skill and brilliant tackles in midfield, but the star of the show was Laura H who also won player of the match for her brilliant crosses and her excellent goal.
