Vixens Shoot Down Buzzards

South Reading Vixens 4 - 0 Hartley Wintney Buzzards
11th September 2005

Charmaine - excellent The Vixens started in lively fashion against last season’s Division 2 champions. The early play saw some great passing between Jaye, Kelsey, Jessica and Chloe as the girls pressed forward. It wasn’t long before Jaye opened the scoring, finishing confidently from close range. The Vixens continued to control the game with Jade and Karis looking solid in defence. Stand in keeper Malicia excelled, dealing confidently with anything that came her way and then playing some excellent balls upfield. Ashleigh, Felisha and Charmaine joined the game as the half progressed, keeping the momentum going. Jaye almost added another after a great cross from Kelsey, then Karis went close with a well hit free kick which flew narrowly wide. The girls hit a deserved second goal just before half time as Chloe’s thunderous shot flew across the keeper and into the far corner of the net.

The girls were fired up for the second half, and Charmaine soon pounced on a loose goal kick before finishing confidently. She quickly added another with a good shot to put the girls 4-0 up, as they continued to play some great football. Kelsey then had to come off with a foot injury, but fortunately was able to return after treatment. With the points secured, Ashleigh took over in goal to allow Malicia to finish the game up front.

It was an excellent performance from the Vixens in their first match in this league, and a real confidence booster for the tough fixtures ahead.
