South Reading Vixens 6 - 2 Hartley Wintney Buzzards
12th March 2006

Jaye - gave a captain's performance Kelsey’s first minute strike got the Vixens off to a flying start, and two minutes later her cross set up Charmaine to double the lead. The girls kept the pressure on as Jaye burst through, only to see her shot go wide. Midway through the half the Vixens extended their lead, again it was Kelsey’s cross that caused problems for Hartley as she found Jaye in front of goal for another cool finish. Jaye then turned provider as her shot was blocked by the keeper, and Charmaine was on hand to net the rebound. It should have been all over for the visitors, but with the Vixens easing off the Buzzards stepped up a gear and started to push forward. A defensive mix-up allowed them to break through, and a good finish gave keeper Mikala no chance. With half time approaching a long goal kick allowed the visitors to slice through the Vixens defence and pull another goal back, to give them hope of a second half comeback.

The Vixens regrouped after the break, and won a corner in the first minute. Jaye played an excellent ball into the area, and Jessica was on hand to hit a first time strike into the net. Hartley battled back, and Mikala pulled off a couple of great saves, the second at full stretch. Then it was back to the other end, another corner and another well taken kick from Jaye. This time it was Malicia who applied the finishing touch to put the Vixens 6-2 up. Still the Buzzards tried to find a way through, and Kelsey had to make a last ditch tackle. More great saves from Mikala kept the lively Hartley attack at bay, whilst at the other end Jaye hit the post. But there was no further score, and the Vixens rounded off their league campaign with the three points.
