South Reading Vixens

Girls Football in South Reading

South Reading Vixens 1 - 7 California
22nd January 2006

Mikala - committed The game started well for the Vixens, with Mikala shooting just wide after good work from Jaye. But it wasn’t long before California pushed up and Ellie pulled off the first of a series of fine saves. After a few minutes the visitors opened the scoring following a good passing move, but the Vixens soon levelled it when Karis’s long throw bobbled around in the box before being forced home by Jaye. Sadly that was as good as it got for the hosts, as the lively California girls were first to the ball and quick to break forward throughout the half. Mikala battled well for the Vixens, but with much of the team having a collective off-day it was not enough and the girls found themselves 5-1 down at half time.

The Vixens finally started to come alive after the break, with Charmaine making some good runs and getting a couple of shots on target. But after giving away a soft goal midway through the half, heads dropped again and California rounded off the scoring shortly afterwards. Mikala did have one last shot on goal, but the California keeper made a good save to ensure it finished 7-1 to the visitors.
