Vixens Hart Attack

Hart FC 1 - 23 South Reading Vixens
2nd October 2005

Tanya - brilliant The Vixens were able to take out their frustrations on a depleted Hart side today as they looked to put last weeks defeat behind them with wave after wave of attack. With the return of several key players to the Vixen squad it was always going to be a tough encounter for the home side who were put under constant pressure throughout the match.

A tally of 15 goals in the first half with Alice Martineau(6), Star(4), Jade Beaumont(2), Siobhan Hayes, Georgia McGill and Femi Scott all getting their name on the scoresheet in a back-to-basics no-nonsense style of football.

But despite the goals rattling in at regular intervals, the Hart girls were a credit to their club as they battled hard throughout the opening period and never once let their heads drop. They were justly rewarded for all their hard work when they found the net themselves shortly before the break when a back-peddling Alana McGill managed to fall over her own feet while deputising briefly for Stacy Coleman between the sticks!

The Vixens were restricted to a meagre 8 after the half-time oranges as the brave Hart contingent proved once again that if points were awarded for guts and determination they would be top of the league.

Further goals from Alice(2), Siobhan(2), Alana, Femi, Star, and Jade wrapped up a comfortable victory to get the Vixen train back on track.

Vixen-of-the-match was shared this week between Tanya Bird and Femi who adapted brilliantly to their new defensive duties. A special mention too should go to Stacy who never conceded a goal in her first stint as keeper.
