Girls Football in South Reading

Reading Girls 1 - 0 South Reading Vixens
19th March 2006

Olivia - worked hard The Vixens met Reading Girls in a play off final to determine the runners up of the league after the two sides finished their campaigns on equal points. Despite the Vixens goal difference being 46 higher their rivals, this was always destined to be a tough match for the girls as they had not beaten their opponents in their two previous meetings this season.

The game was tight with few chances being created on either side as illustrated by the 0-0 half time score. Reading Girls were solid in defence to the frustration of the Vixens forward line who never looked like scoring. At the other end Amy made an excellent goal line clearance, but with just ten minutes to go the Reading side scored with a superb individual effort from a tight angle. This forced the Vixens to convert Olivia from goalkeeper to striker in an effort to force extra time, but it was not to be and Reading Girls held on to earn a deserved win.

The two sides meet again in the Cup Final on 30th April, and possibly in the Ash Trophy as well.
