2005/06 NewsFive matches in four days result in the Vixens reaching the semi final for the second year running. In this prestigious international tournament, the girls suffer a case of deja vu as they are again put out of the competition by Manchester City. Despite the hectic schedule, they still find time to go to the cinema, bowling and Laserquest - as well as taking on both the parents and some over-confident local boys in jumpers for goalposts games. 16/07/06 - Double success The Under 14's pick up their second tournament trophy of the weekend at Farnborough. Remarkably, this is achieved with an almost totally different squad from yesterday's winners at Barton. 15/07/06 - Vixens out in force at Barton A good day at the Barton Rovers tournament sees the Under 14's win their age group whilst the Under 12's finish runners up in the Plate. There was also some good football from the Vixens in the U11, U10 and U8 age groups. 29/05/06 - Another one for the cabinet The Under 12's battle their way to success in the Theale Tigers tournament. Despite the wind and rain, and without any subs, the girls keep their concentration to defeat Westwood Diamonds in the final. 13/05/06 - First tournament success The Vixens pick up their first tournament trophy of the summer, courtesy of the Under 10's who win the Plate competition at Whiteknights. Congratulations go to June, Sam and all the girls on winning their first final. 30/04/06 - Up for the cup Andrew's losing streak at the dogs is forgotten as the U14's storm to the NEHYL Cup at Alton. A thrilling match sees the girls step up a gear in the last 10 minutes to record a 5-2 victory over near neighbours Reading Girls, as they pick up their first silverware of the season. 22/04/06 - Under 12's go bigger The Under 12's get their first taste of 11-a-side in a friendly at Whiteknights. Despite some initial concern at the size of the goal they are defending, the girls soon realise that the one they are attacking is just as big. Both teams adjust well to the new format, and a good spirited match ends with honours even in a 3-3 draw. 18/04/06 - Woof Coaches and parents go to the dogs, with an evening at Reading Stadium. Star of the night is U14's player Charlotte who picks 3 winners in 7 races for her dad, whilst her manager Andrew picks up the wooden spoon for no winners at all. 08/04/06 - Fair Play to the Mini-Vixens The Under 8's amazing progress is rewarded at the Hicks League presentation day, where they pick up the Fair Play trophy. Congratulations go to Tina, Chris, Jason and all the girls. 28/02/06 - Come on England International football comes to the Madejski as England U21's take on Norway. The whole U12 squad skip training to go to the match, and enjoy a 3-1 victory despite the freezing cold. 25/02/06 - Well done girls The Under 17's ran up their first victory today in a hard fought 2-0 win over Down Grange. In their first season, it has not been easy as many players have been lost to Saturday jobs. However, coach Paddy has managed to get the best out of the girls as they have improved each week.
14/01/06 - Mini-Vixens make their mark As the only girls team in a boys league, the youngest Vixens faced a difficult start to the season. However, they have improved rapidly and picked up their first win of the season against Hurst Romans. Ashlee did the damage in an exciting 1-0 victory.
18/12/05 - Chopsticks Time for the traditional Vixens Chines Christmas Meal, and a welcome return to the all-you-can-eat buffet at the China Palace. The chef rose to the challenge and despite the girls best efforts there was plenty of food for everyone. 30/11/05 - All change Tina has decided to step down as manager of the Under 14's, so that she can concentrate on developing the new Under 8's and Under 17's teams. Since forming the original girls team in 2001, Tina has seen the Vixens grow into one of the most successful clubs in the area. We welcome the new U14's manager Andrew Davis, whose daughter Olivia plays in the team. Andrew previously managed at Winnersh Rangers, and played football himself for many years. 06/10/05 - Vixens under lights
The Under 14's face the Under 17's under the floodlights at Palmer Park Stadium as part of the Kick Racism out of Football event. Under 10's manager June puts in a guest appearance for the U17's but it is not enough to keep the more experienced U14's at bay, and it is Deanna who lifts the trophy.
11/09/05 - Kick off
The girls kick off the new season with six teams playing league football, double the number of last year. A great start sees four Vixens victories in the first weekend, with the Under 14's impressing as they hit 22 goals without reply.
07/08/05 - Congratulations
Congratulations go to June Sainsbury and Sam Jordan on completing their FA Level 1 Coaching Course. Several days of hard work paid off as they passed all their assessments with flying colours, and our Under 10's can now look forward to receiving the benefit of their new skills.
