Girls Football in South Reading

Vixens Have a Whale of a Time in Wales!

29th May 2004
Pembrokeshire County 0 - 2 South Reading Vixens

The Vixens opened their international account with a hard-fought victory over our County hosts who made them battle all the way. No such thing as a friendly between two proud nations as the play switched from end-to-end with both sides holding the ball well for long periods. The Vixens edged ahead to go into the break 1-0 up before adding the winner mid-way through the second half after some scary moments for the visiting goalkeeper.

Crickhowell Panthers 1 - 1 South Reading Vixens

After watching the Panthers go down narrowly to Pembrokeshire County in this round-robin event, the Vixens knew that they would be no push-over. This proved to be the case as the clock ticked on and the Vixen camp began to count the number of squandered chances in the heavily defended Crickhowell goalmouth. But the goal did finally come for the Vixens and the away team looked set to take away maximum points from the day before a well-earned last-minute equaliser from the determined Welsh side. An extremely good-spirited fixture ended 1-1 with the Vixens securing the overall round-robin title undefeated.
